Sorry to get in late but do want to respond in case others are faced with
this FileMaker Pro vs Applework9s database capability
First, a primary difference that 99% of non-commercial users don9t need is
the ability to create a Relational database in FM and NOT in AW. My MUG is
>
3/4ths Retired and the ONLY Relational database application I9ve been able
to find for them is Alumni records where many individuals might have the
same Class Representative, Faculty Adviser, etc. Hence, my members don9t
need Relational database capability unless it is for a business application
like invoicing, etc.
Second, AW is TERRIBLE if you want to change a specific field in multiple
records to have the same value. FM offers a Replace across multiple
records. AW does not. I keep the club records in FM because I want to
update a group of member records in one step (e.g. Renewal due this month).
AW requires each member record to be dealt with individually.
Third, this is my personal perspective, scripting repetitive steps in FM is
3easy2. AW doesn9t have an scripting capability so you have to work outside
AW with AppleScript.
Conclusion: most of my members will exist perfectly well with AW database9s
simple flat file structure. BUT, a few of them have more more complex
applications and should be made aware of FM Pro9s advantage

To my view, you're already well informed and ahead of the game with
