It's hard to notice in IB, but once you see it, it's obvious.
Select 2 views, then choose "Group in -> Split View" from the
Layout menu.

element, but I can't see how to do one.
IB doesn't seem to support it and when I browsed the
Aqua guidelines on Apple's web site, there was no
mention of it.
Still, if Mail.app uses it, it must be OK to use :-)
