Hi :)
Then become either a select or premier ADC member. When I was a student,
I couldn't afford MPW. But now that I'm working, I've chosen to pay for
all the software I use... if only to support and encourage good work (not to
mention, because I can).
Select membership is rather steep for me (as it is per year) but the
student program has been tempting me. I would have to pay for it
myself as my Cocoa programming is not really part of my research. The
only benifit to me seems to be the 'selected' develper cds. Is anyone
here on the student program - what does 'selected' mean?
I am currently doing ok with just the online membership I think.
Not only do you support Apple's tool development, but you get other benefits
as well.
True, but I don't feel I need many of these. The yearly fee is what
gets me. I would be more than happy to pay maybe 30ukp once off for
the developer software (if Apple decided to charge) but the 99usd a
year for simply 'playing around' is quite a lot for a student. I am
not, may i point out, saying it is overpriced or anything - it sounds
like a great deal for many students - but most of my coding is core
ObjectiveC and not really Cocoa or even mac specific.
If people here feel that the 'selected CDs' are worth it though, I
could be easily convinced. What kind of things are on the cds, how
often are they etc?
Robert
ps. Now, if I had a job writing Mac software or even made some money
from it, i would be very willing to spend that money on the select
program <g>.
pps. The big problem, however, is that I strongly support free
software so everything I write is free!
ppps. I see a fundamental flaw here <g>
