Thanks, Don. I am eagerly anticipating the book's publication and will
certainly purchase it.
Thanks also for the MiscKit - I use it quite extensively in the several
NeXTstations which acquire all of the data in my laboratory and I'm looking
forward to the Cocoa version.

Yes, it is. A lot of people asked me about it at WWDC, too.
but does anyone on this
list (the authors, perhaps?) have any idea when "Cocoa Programming" by
Yacktman et al will be released?
Nope! Don't know for sure. (And I'm one of the authors.)
The various vendors give very
conflicting (and misleading) information on this subject, so I thought I
would go to the source
Given what's done and what's left to be done, I think the July date is
the best estimate right now. I'm 99% sure you won't be able to get
your hands on it before then. We're really close to completion, but
there are final editing passes, reviews, printing, binding, shipping to
distributors, and so on to be done and those all take time.
(I cancelled my Amazon order when it appeared to
languish for more than 6 months).
Don't worry, the book *will* come out!
And for my admittedly very biased opinion: As this project comes
together, I am getting more and more excited about it. IMHO it will
have been worth the wait.
And, to answer another frequently asked question that I answered a lot at
WWDC: the MiscKit isn't dead. I had to put it on hold for over a year
so that I could get the book written. The book ended up being a much
bigger project than I could have ever anticipated, and I felt that the
positive impact the book could have on the community made it worth the
temporary sacrifice to the MiscKit. Now that the book is almost done,
I can actually envision a time, not long distant, when I'll be spending
my free time on the MiscKit once again. (Yay!)
