Those are not quiet equivalent... WO provides the server side of
things by adding a very thin layer around Apache's Axis:
http://ws.apache.org/axis/
It's a thin but *very* useful layer because you don't have to deal
with any Byzantine crap to create or deploy a working web service.
As p_a says, though, what's in WebObjects is primarily server-side
while what's in CoreServices is client-side.
