But how do you really feel? :)

Is this some kind of proverb? English is not my native language. :}

Ah, sorry. It's meant as a humorous ironic response when someone expresses a strong opinion.

I promise the next release will have a pref to turn off metal.

Thank you! Thank you very much! Especially since I couldn't patch it ... ;-)
(I'm patching every release of Safari. It's so much nicer in aqua.)

You should be able to tweak the nib file in IB. It's called AppKiDo.nib, and the window is named "AppKiDo". I just tried it myself, and you know, Aqua doesn't look as bad as I thought it did. Maybe it's the Panther changes to Aqua that I like; having stripes in the title bar used to give *me* eyestrain.

Anyway, if you have trouble tweaking the nib, let me know off-list and we'll see if there's something screwy.

The quicklist table should be tall to minimize scrolling (i.e., to avoid dragging). I didn't want to give up the space that would be occupied by potentially six radio buttons for Foundation, AppKit, WebKit, ScreenSaver, PreferencePanes, and AddressBook.

OK. Let me think about it ... what if you'd replace those radio buttons with a list view. Items should be sortable by hand and it would be in one split view together with the quick list. That way I would be able to put those categories at the top that I use most often and to choose how much space I want to use for which part of the list.

In case my explanation was too confusing, here is a concept graphic:

That's a creative solution, and I'll see if I can sell myself on it. In an app like this, I have to be convinced that every little bit of extra complexity justifies itself. At some point you fix things in stone, like Apple's standard menu bar items, and at some point you offer flexibility, like customizable toolbars.

Can you tell me where you find yourself doing lots of extra mouse gestures with the new interface? In my own usage, I find that 98% of my quicklist needs (not counting Search) are met by the existing radio options. When I do need to see more of the classes in a framework, that framework is almost always AppKit. One thing I probably *should* do is remember which framework was selected from the popup menu.

Thanks for your thoughts.
