I very strongly agree with all of this. Don't try to be clever with
files on my system. If I buy a program from someone, I *expect* it to
exist cleanly on my system or not at all. And I would happily tell
others what programs have given me problems. I'm also a programmer, so
understand the dilemma that's being faced, but don't gum-up my system
trying to solve it with transient hacks.
