The german equivalent of "untitled" is "ohne Titel" (*). Since
"ohne" is not a noun, that's perfectly valid.
Just to clarify, Cocoa uses "Ohne Titel" in German. The older version
of my override resulted in "ohne titel" which is wrong. In the new
version, if the app is running in German, it simply punts and passes
the default string "Ohne Titel" through.
Oh, and there have been no efforts to remove the title case for
nouns. The so-called "Rechtschreibreform" did change some other
rules - of which a lot are being re-reformed because they were -
well - just idiotic.
Hmm... Wikipedia notes that German capitalization rules changes have
been proposed several times since the late 1960s. "Many of the reform
suggestions called for the elimination of German's capitalization of
all nouns, replacing it with a system like that in English, where
only proper nouns are capitalized."
