You wouldn't want to hire a carpenter who only knew how to use a hammer would you?
Actually, I don't give a tinker's cuss whether he uses a hammer only, a ton of powered tools, or perhaps just a nail scissors. That's his problem. I am interested in the quality of the work he gives me, in the time needed, and in the price. Nothing can interest me less though than the concrete tools he selects to use.
You're speaking as a
client of the carpenter.
If you're the big boss as Carpenters R Us, looking for a new carpenter to hire, you're not going to hire a carpenter that only puts a hammer on his carpentering resume, even if he is damn skilled with that hammer.
The guy who needs a carpenter at his house for one day to do one job doesn't care, as long as the work he does is decent. But the manager of Carpenters R Us needs to ensure that his staff are technically competent and have modern skills. Otherwise one day your carpenter will come across a job that needs a saw and a winch, and he'll be worthless to you until you get him retrained.
