I have always used a D65/1.8 config when calibrating and profiling monitors
in production environments. I have found it to be the best combination.

I would suggest the Optical/Spyder combo from Color Vision
(www.colorcal.com). It will work on all of the hardware/OS's you have and is
very affordable. The calibration time is longer than if you used an X-Rite
DTP-92, but the results are comparable.
