Lets see: to build compact web-taggable profiles, to build LUT based profiles
that were closer to matrix based profile sizes, to build profile libraries
for web download, to profile very liniar devices where localized variations
between the points were not likely, to profile very spikey devices and miss
the spikes, to profile coarse gamut devices where it doesn't really matter,
to profile highly variable devices frequently and quickly (does color laser
come to mind?)... um, there are a few more complex reasons as well, and
reasons for dumbing down just certain tables or directions, but that's a
start.
