Optical but I can see why they may not want to.
There are several issues that come to mind here. The first is that
ColorVision has its own hardware for monitor calibration, and that would
certainly be their priority. Another is that even those companies that are
not happy with their current monitor calibration options, and desperately
want to support the SpectroCam for monitors have not yet been able to release
a SpectroCam based monitor calibration program, so it does not appear to be a
trivial task. I've heard various reasons for this... And there is the patent
infringement issue of using a device to read both reflective patches and
emissive output, which puts using the SpectroCam for this under a cloud.
Finally there are the questions about LCD calibration, and what hardware,
software and LCD developments might be needed to deal with that. So I would
guess SpectroCam monitor calibration support for OptiCal would come behind
all of that, if it makes the list at all. Keep in mind that the Monitor
Spyder is so reasonably priced that getting it with PhotoCal costs as little
as or less than getting OptiCal alone to use with a third party device; and
that OptiCal and a SpectroCam would cost eight times as much as PhotoCal and
a Spyder. So once the LCD calibration issue shakes out, it may prove to be a
moot point to worry about SpectroCam support for monitor calibration.
