SpectroCam vs Eye-One

On a limited budget I'm trying to move up in the world of printer profiling... Mainly I'd like to upgrade my patch reader (hardware). Currently using a ColorMouse 2 to read patches with CompassProfile.

I was considering upgrading to a SpectroCam to save time (about $1K), but am worried about this instrument going the way of the dodo due to legal issues...

The Eye-One Pro + Match package is too expensive at about $3K. It includes software I can't afford even if it's better than what I'm using...

Sooo...: Does anyone know of any plans to have the Eye-One instrument supported by software other than Gretag's?

Thank you as always...

Armand
