Anyone have opinions on the color merits (and other aspects) of the following sources of office illumination: 5000K fluorescent tubes, Solux 4700K, and Ott-Lite? I'm considering rewiring my Graphic Design office, and would appreciate feedback.

5000K tubes are probably your best bet. Also, if the rewiring includes a redecoration, you should consider painting the interior walls with a flat finish paint mixed to Pantone 427U spec. (Any good paint shop should be able to match this shade from a color chip.)

This setup eliminates most of the color casts that can affect your eyes and your monitor calibration.

As far as the sun, I've been lucky enough to have offices located deep in the interior of the building, where I'm not affected.

Hope this help.
