We use Kami mounting fluid on most of our transparencies up to 4"x5". We
mount on flat surfaces (examples would be. Topaz, Nexscan) as well as on
our drums (Tango, Crosfield). The result is clean and usually pays for the
time in mounting by eliminating dust, grain etc. on the final scan. The
fluid is more like a solvent then an oil. I am yet to see any damage to
transparencies. It's better then paraffin oil because it will not hinder
optical parts after it dries.

It's tricky at first to mount with it, but like anything, it becomes a
practiced skill.
