My company is running two best color rips with two Epson 9500's. I am
having problems getting information out of the best color tech support.
Here I am again in the precarious position of depending on the kindness of
strangers. I've been here before in the world of color management. So maybe
someone one this list can help me out. I need to set up a way to import
linear readings via the import function in Best color 4.2.3. Though the
software is set up for taking readings from an online device, this requires
the practice of plugging in a serial device. This is not always safe on a
hot machine. The need to shut down the machine is disruptive to a very busy
machine with 7 active cues on each proofer that are on a very active
network. We produce 45 magazines and are extremely busy. With that said the
need to do readings and assembly of the readings need to be done on another
machine to minimize down time at the proofers. Best Color is trying to get
me to upgrade to 4.5. That is not an option at this time.
I'm told that the import function is set up for an IT8 format file from
Spectrofiler. Can someone that has access to Spectrofiler contact me off
the list or send me an exported IT8 example from Spectrofiler. Since the
example from the best color support staff is not compatible (they informed
me later after multiple attempts to use them) I need a compatible example
that I can tailor a system around. If Spectrofiler has a "best color
linearization IT8" export function, That would be the format I need. Once I
get something that Best color recognizes I will create a routine that will
work for my system.
Thanks kindly in advance for any help.
