I don't think that you can invert edits completely and accurately to restore
the original. In any case you're edits will be correct only to largest
quantize error of editing the program. The return will lead to some errors
in in the associated grid point locations in the tables therefore reducing
the quality of the profile.
There may be quite a few other reasons that others might add.
