Colorgetter and its ilk, the the HCT target is definately worth a look.
It makes a pretty awesome profile. I'm going to have to try the "Large"
option. In the past I didn't see much use (at least for output profiles). I
recall asking GretagMacbeth why one would use Standard verses Large and
didn't get much of a answer.
I did get ProfileMaker 4.0 modules to run under Classic in OSX. The trick is
to go get info and click on that check box called "Open in Classic
Environment." If you don't have this checked, you can't launch the
applications. I was able to run and build profiles while running OSX while
the app ran in classic. The dongle is seen just fine!
The new gamut mapping is pretty nice! You can clearly see the differences
when you use it and on RGB output profiles it rocks. I'm not really sure why
you wouldn't use it (but it's nice to have the option in cause you want to
create profiles that follow the 3.X look). What's so nice about ProfileMaker
with this option is you get nice saturated colors but blues do not go
Cyan/Magenta as so many other packages seem to. But I must say, I suspect
something is a bit odd with their Perceptual Rendering. I vastly prefer
using Relative Colorimetric or I see a warming effect on output and soft
proof. I really need to run some of the older spectral data files I worked
on with the beta through the golden version (which I just got to run
Friday). Perhaps that issue is moot.
