I9m setting up 2 Epson 75009s with Fiery RIPS this week and was wondering if
there was any info on the Epson Color Calibrator on this list. When I built
profiles for this setup previously, I was using ColorBlind 4.0 and a
Spectroscan and got great results. Of course, ColorBlind has a great
linearasation utility built in. All I have at my disposal now are an
Eye-One and ProfileMaker 4.0. I compared the output from the ColorBlind
Profile to the ProfileMaker profile, and the ProfileMaker output had a
distinct greenish cast. I looked at the gradation tables on the ColorBlind
profile and the Linearisation was great. I compared that to the PM 4.0
profile and noticed it needed to be linearized. I than ran the Linearisation
2.0 patches, measured and applied to the PM 4.0 profile and noticed no
discernable difference. So back to the original question, is the Epson Color
Calibrator worth the investment, or is there a better way to linearize with
PM 4.0 and an Eye-one. And is there something obvious I9m missing? Or any
other way to linearize the Fiery RIP and set inkl limits without the Color
Calibrator?
BTW, I9m profileing Epson Photo Semi-Gloss paper.
Thanks for the feedback,
Larry
