ColorSync -- The Missing Manual?
ColorSync -- The Missing Manual?

I found the attached post very helpful, particularly since I had spent a
fair amount of time mousing around looking for where the very same printer
profiles were hiding. It begs the question, though, why has Apple not
published a comprehensive document for users on ColorSync in OS X. I realize
that there are a handful of Apple KB documents that offer fragmentary
advice, but a regular reading of this list, which is dominated by very
proficient users, suggests that even members of this self-selected group
get confused about where profiles should be stored, or where they can be
found -- not to mention how best to set up an Apple Cinema Display or other
Apple LCD monitor for profiling. Given the importance of the graphic arts
community to Apple, the importance of ColorSync as a core Apple technology,
and the importance of OS X as the future of Apple, I would have thought
that a PDF document on ColorSync workflows in OS X would have been a
high priority for Apple. Certainly the 600 page books on OS X that I've
bought do not offer this level of guidance.

Actually, printer profiles can be in more places than that. When a print
