When using canned profiles, it is possible for the Printer Module to
auto-select a factory profile based on whatever conditions it deems
appropriate (which might include paper type). However, I don't think there
is a way for the end user to tell what the Printer Module actually decided
to do.
As an experiment, you could make a print using a canned profile chosen by
you manually and then try the standard one and see if the output matches.
For example, load the paper you want to use in the printer (e.g. glossy),
and make a print using the plain paper profile, the glossy profile, and the
profile that you think might be the automatic one. If the automatic
selection print looks like the print made with the glossy profile manually
selected, then it works. Otherwise, stick to choosing your profiles
manually.
