I really appreciate all the posts and information being provided to my
request for info on scan backs. There seems to be a "general" consensus, with
a few exceptions, that BetterLight is the better back. My concern with
PhaseOne is the fact that they are/have discontinued all but one back, which
is now Firewire and $24,000.00. Will that soon be discontinued as well? Their
efforts seem to be concentrated in the one-shot market.
A few of you have suggested the PhaseOne H20 as an option, which actually
sounds kind of attractive. As a LightPhase user, I think it's safe to assume
the quality of the 48 MB file to be superb. I question whether or not it
would be comparable to 8x10 scanned film and serve my upcoming need.
Would a 48MB file res up fine and be comparable to a 150MB scanback file?
Another question which has arisen is lighting. I was hoping to manage with my
regular Lowel tungsten lamps. Some have mentioned HMI. Will the tungsten be
sufficient?
Thanks to everyone!
