Well, one of the benefits of modern production methods is that:
1. You don't need skilled staff with trained eyes to judge the accuracy of a
proof
2. You don't need complicated and expensive technology to measure colour
3. You don't need to waste time looking at control strips and targets
4. You don't need controlled viewing environments
4. You only need to be able recognise one colour - Green
In fact, production professionals at certain UK magazines don't even need to
look at your proof at all. They can judge how good it is by placing it
face-down on their desks!
If they see a repeating pattern of words in a green colour then the proof is
judged to be excellent.
If the words are recognisable, but not green - then the proof is
questionable and might need to be turned over and stared at for a few
minutes.
If the words are not recognisable and not green, or there are no words at
all - then the proof is rejected.
Simple & effective - just like modern colour management should be.
Resistance is futile.
So take my advice and buy a couple of packs of overpriced Borg inkjet paper,
calibrate it and then run the stuff when you need to.
