You can buy bulbs that are 5000K from a local electrical supplier.

Make sure to tell them you want 5000K. I made the mistake once of saying

"daylight" bulbs. The salesperson told me they're not the same.

:) Nobody had a perfect 5000K. It was all over the place.

You are probably referring to Solux halogen bulbs, which can be used
in place of standard halogen equipment (MR-16 fixture). They come in
3500, 4100, and 4700 K (plus/minus 200 K they say). These values are
for 12 V, you can increase the color temperature to 5000 K if you use
13.5 V (thereby reducing the life-time from 3000 to 650 hours, citing
product info). Be careful with cooling and safety casing with these
35 W and 50 W bulbs, though. I've seen offers of $5.50 each (and just
bought some for EUR 6.85 at a German distributor). Looking really good.
(Even with 4700 K you get almost D50 performance. If I did my math
correctly, it's better than the F8-based fluorescent "D50" sources,
where you can still see metamerism breaking down between sheet-fed
print and some proofers.)
