Can user switch off Display color management?

  • Subject: Can user switch off Display color management?

I'm not sure this question even makes sense, but is it possible to completely turn off color management for the display in Mac OS X?

I don't want to disable ColorSync, at least not permanently, I just want to temporarily tell it to not touch the color of the pixels on my screen.

The ColorSync and Monitors control panels allow me to choose an ICC Profile, but it doesn't seem like there is a choice for "no profile at all".

If there always must be a Profile chosen for the display, is there such a thing as a "dummy" display profile that will tell the CMM not to do anything? (I guess this "dummy" profile would claim the display is perfect?) Alternatively, is there a way to temporarily get the CMM not to do anything to the pixel data for the screen, regardless of the display profile?

Thanks for advice. -Steve
