Be careful Rob - comparing before/after values from the same target used
to create a custom profile is like only checking a 2D fitting function
using the original data. If the software is working correctly, the target
values will always be much closer than color values that are not present
in the reference data. Best would be to use two targets (with reference
data), both containing many patches that were unique to that target (and
well separated in color space). One target would be used to create the
profile, the other to test it. Another option is to test profiles using
manufactured images that include many values not present in the reference
set. This latter technique can be easily performed using ColorLab and
MeasureTool.
