Aha! You are in favor of affording the user some control after all?
Oh, I'm *very much* pro control for the user.
My two points are:
1. Don't offer pro forma choice where sensibly in fact there is none.
2. Offer the choice at the correct level. I wouldn't care about
Photoshop telling me that it uses the display specific profile for
displaying my images, because I would always look up that setting in
System Preferences, and simply expect that each app will honor that.
