Roger,
I think the best answer to what happens inside the camera in RAW mode is
"nothing". The camera dumps all the data from each sensor in a modified
TIFF format. No profiles or WB.
What you see in the different application programs are that their individual
conversions have different options for conversion. The RAW data is the same
regardless where it will be developed.
