No, this is not true.
You profile on top of a particular workflow with either this or that printer
driver or Rip or whatever.
If two drivers behave different, you need to profile them both.
Some drivers behave identical in both Platforms MacOS9 and MacOSX, so you
can use the same profiles.
Epson 2100: I have definite proof that the drivers for this printer are
different in the 2 platforms: If I print a target in OS9 with No Color
adjustment and no profile applied, the print comes close to printing a
target in macOSX with color controls0000, mode: photorealistic, gamma 2.2
and no profile applied, both same mediatype settings: So the drivers are
behaving very different.
I might be the case with the 9600 as well.
