Subject: Profiling LCD monitors
From: Bob Smith <email@hidden>
Where I'm getting lost in this process both with EyeOne Match and with
BasICColor is how to best set the hardware controls on the display
before profiling. EyeOne Match doesn't give any guidance for setting
brightness/contrast before profiling when in LCD mode.<<
With i1 Match (same as PM415 etc), if you have a contrast control, set it to
100% before beginning the step.
With Brightness, set it to minimum before beginning the step.
Instead of using Photoshop curves to match the lightness, use MeasureTools
calibration panel to match monitor brightnesses.
Anyhow, give it a go.
If you are soft-proofing images, please be aware of the recommendations in ISO
3664-1975 and ISO 12646, because a calibrated monitor agrees only with a very
precise set of external viewing conditions and surroundings.
All the best.
