I am also having problems with DDC in basICColor... haven't been able to use
it yet. I've tried on diverse LaCie monitors, all of them younger than 3
years.
The "DDC Checker" says DDC detected, and after several minutes it proceeds
to the next screen where you are asked to put your brightness to minimum,
and then press ok. But then I get an error "can't get feature from monitor",
seemingly meaning it can't read the current values. If I ignore and continue
with "set your brightness to maximum", the same happens.
I see the manual mentions the requirement of a "high power USB port" for the
DDC cable. Which is hard, since most macs have only 2 usb ports and the
Squid also requires a "high power USB port". So I either leave out mouse and
keyboard (funny, eh? Maybe I am expected to run through the software via
Timbuktu or Remote Desktop!), or buy a powered USB hub.
I positively know the Squid doesn't run on the keyboard port, I've tried and
it errors out when trying to calibrate black.
Just to check, I unplugged the Squid so as to run DDC Checker with the DDC
cable in a high-power port (in the back of the G4). But same results: DDC
communication detected, but "can't get feature from monitor" error.
Any clues? I intend to try on more monitors, but as of now, a couple of
Electron Blue II (and I even believe one is a 3!) have failed for me.
