In terms of commercial offerings, it seems that Microsoft (of all
people) are further down the track to standardizing this sort of
approach,
rather than the usual suspects such as Apple, Adobe or the ICC.
While that may be true, it's totally out of scope for the current
discussion which is expressly about ICC profiles, ICC-based CMMs, and
the need for black point compensation, today, in all CMMs. That they
also need other things is a different discussion.
