Yeah I thought about that, but really that's a more
intermediate-advanced need. I think that should be provided in the
application itself if you want to assume something other than sRGB as
source. Doing this at a system level would cause untagged images to
look different on potentially every workstation. I don't think that
would be good for most of Apple's customers. I think it should just be
sRGB and forget it until there is something more applicable than sRGB
to assume for untagged objects. And then it takes the effort off the
user, off the application vendor for consistent display. If they don't
like sRGB for some reason, then that's a good reason for them to start
embedding (or tagging) files, and submitting that information to the OS
so it can do display compensation.
