False. You have changed the rules to get a subjectively "good" result
at the expense of consistency. Consistency on 5% of the world's
computers is hardly consistent or helpful.
The most basic tenet of color management is to define the meaning of
otherwise ambiguous numeric values. It is unacceptable, inappropriate,
and out of scope for Apple to put a value judgment on how images should
look, but to show us (the users) how they do look. It is up to your
customers to decide what is good or not. Has Apple unilaterally made
this decision with zero input from anyone outside of Apple? If not I'd
like to hear who was consulted.
