If the display was bought as new, and it has the warranty, I wouldn't
worry overmuch about the fab date. The Artisans are hand-picked
CPD-G520s-they only take the best of the bunch.
Dear Bruce
You may well be correct but I will need some convincing from Sony when
they open up shop on Monday morning! I cannot help thinking that there
will have been improvements made to the product in that time frame.
Your assertion that the Artisans are hand picked CPD-G520's is
interesting. Is this all they are under that thin grey exterior...apart
from the calibrator and hood? Certainly the handbook...what handbook
....OK the pdf, fails to support the product IMO.
I would, however, make a phone call to make sure that you didn't get a
refurb passed off as new.
The W900 needs a much heavier case to stop the much heavier innards
from breaking through it!
Surely its the chassis that carries the main load, and that the case is
in a supporting role protecting the innards from external damage. Even
the front bezel has the feeling of fragility....not very impressive for
a product hailed as their flagship monitor me thinks! Oh yes the whole
thing rocks about like a boat in a rough sea if nudged, whereas our
other monitors have a feeling of far greater stability and quality.
It may be a brilliant monitor...time will tell, but I feel they have
cheapened it in an unacceptable way. Just my opinion, and for the
record here in the UK we have to pay the equivalent of about 3600 USD
for one!
Cheers
Richard
