Thanks for your answers on pixel resolution for the Epson printers!
It's interesting to know that the optimal file resolution is 360 ppi and that interpolation has to take place otherwise. Most files I prepare are primarely for press, at 300 ppi and the print is just a check, but I will make an habit of setting the resolution to 360 ppi when it has to be output on my printer only, as this might perhaps shorten the process time and improve some details. And as said, this is much a matter of an eye and correct unsharp masking has probably more influence on the final print than resolution itself.
And for the 8 bit versus 16 bit question, I guessed that it was just the same, but asked in case I was missing something...
