Hello Colour folk
I have just had the following email exchange with a new client:
I wrote:
Could you please advise as to what sort of CMYK you would like?
Specifically:
Custom profile if you have one or
Preferred sep (perhaps US Sheetfed CoatedV2? - I have had good results
with this profile).
And in any case TIL minimum dot and max black would be helpful.
I see you are printing 175 lpi and assume you will be happy with 300ppi
files?
I presume we can leave you guys in charge of final sharpening once the
images are sized?
To which they replied:
Don't worry about converting to CMYK just supply us with original RGB
files from scanner or digital camera. Not CMYK files converted back to
RGB though. We have a custom CMYK profile that is applied when we
output PDF's from Indesign for this printer. Generally we only convert
to CMYK when outputing the print file. RGB's are better for any
Photoshop we might want to do as well.
And I replied:
I just need to confirm that your software is setup to honour embedded
profiles (which will be AdobeRGB1998) and not discard/ignore them as
some RIPs do!
I await a response from them but does anyone think there is more I can
do to safeguard this job?
Regards
Nick Tresidder
