Welcome to the world of "calibration".

Version 3, I was told.

Oh?

With the Spyder / Optical package, there is a colorimeter window where you
can use the instrument to take measurements of the screen. The same can be
said for the EyeOne but that interface is in MeasureTool. I would compare
the performance of the two instruments on a Photoshop-generated RGB gray
ramp. Display the ramp, one patch at a time in the middle of your monitor
and take a measurement with both instruments with one set of calibration
active at a time. Then you can compare the difference between expected and
actual.
