Re: 32 bits in Photoshop?
Re: 32 bits in Photoshop?
I have a 32 bit camera which allows me to shoot directly into the sun and hold color data, distinct and unique from tungsten, sodium vapor, etc. At the same time it holds shadow data that goes way beyond what anyone can image. I end up with a 26 stop brightness range and can massage the data into 16 bit or 8 bit for print purposes with a look and feel that is significantly better than most scans from film originals or than even photographic film processes.
Short of a 32 bit original capture, the capability to "build" data is a strata above anything folks working in 16 bit can achieve.
We are talking 150 ls and above for offset or 1280 and above for inkjet to approach differentiating the image data. On the other hand, there is still a significant amount of fine art, scientific reproduction, and other high end applications which can appreciate this level of quality.

It's not a 32 bit integer - it's a 32 bit floating point value.
