Interesting problem here. I've got images converted to my press space
placed in Quark 5. Due to a change in press sheet size, I went to
save the page, with its images and Quark created elements (obviously
not color managed elements mind you) as an EPS. I then placed the
images in a new document, and made the necessary size adjustments (x
-.5%). I then put the page into my RIP and keyed on certain pixels,
and discovered a difference. Then I realized, it must be due to the
resampling that occurs when changing the EPS size. Well, I was going
to write and ask just how that resampling is accomplished, and what
effect it might have in a color managed image (yes, I know this is not
the ideal way to do this) but then I sent the placed EPS undistorted,
and still found differences.
Why would this be? Shouldn't it send pixel values unchanged? There
is no Quark CMS active, and nothing in the RIP. It has to be in the
page saved as an EPS, but what is changing the values?
I don't understand what's going on. What are the steps to reproduce
this?
