Ah, that makes things clearer.
Automatic is not the same as Device.
If I'm not completely mistaken, "Automatic" simply refers to the
default settings (which are referred to as such in the Mac version),
and "Manual" to the "advanced settings" that are explained in the
following pages of the manual. So it's no difference here to the Mac.
The Device setting I referred to is the one you see in the HP color
options menu. There should be one for RGB and one for CMYK. If you see
no CMYK at all it confirms my suspicion that CMYK is a Windows only
option. You see at the bottom of the CMYK page HP says how to change
the inkset emulation, Default, SWOP, Euroscale, DIC, and Device
(none), in Windows with no mention of Mac.
Oh, misunderstanding. If you refer to the Inkset emulation options when
you talk about "CMYK options", these are present in the Mac version,
including the "Device" entry. It's just that this "Device" setting has
little to do with the RGB "Device" setting (one turns off inkset
emulation, the other color management).
In fact, after glimpsing thru the manual, I would say everything is
present in the Mac version.
It looks like if you pick "default" under RGB it will assume the file
is sRGB.
In the Mac version, it just turns on Mac OS X ColorSync for printing.
The respective default RGB profile is indeed sRGB, but you could as
well specify another profile in ColorSync Utility.
Bye
Uli
