When measuring various paper whites, I notice that what the
paper is sitting on has a strong influence on the resulting measurement.
I’m using a Spectrolino with UV filter and Gretag MeasureTool. For
example, I get a different reading when measuring a piece of paper if it is
sitting on some Bainbridge Pure White mat board (nearly neutral) vs. on some
Epson Premium Luster (more blue) vs. on my desk top (dark reddish brown wood).
I also recall that when I purchased the Spectroscan table
which I use for profiling, there were two options: one with a white base and one with a
black base. I have the white base.
So, is there a standard for what the paper being measured
should be sitting on?
Thanks,
Michael
