Most printers that I have talked to have their Computer To Plate
machine set
to ignore embedded profiles.
and that actually works well more often than it does not. We have to
keep in mind that not only printers have to better understand the ins
and outs of color managed files, but also those creating and submitting
files.
Hi Olaf,
thank you for your in-depth answer.
But it shows in what dilemma we are and I have said that before:
We have and still need experts on one hand, but most of the people
working
in the (photo)graphic and printing industry aren't.
The idea behind the ISO profiles was to give the graphic designers and
photographers in europe a standard profile to produce their work with.
PDF/X is one other step in secure data exchange.
This is what this side of the chain must learn.
Any internal corrections that the printer needs, as correcting
TAC etc. should be an internal thing. This is what a well defined
colormanagement workflow may do.
We have to convince the printing industry that they can benefit of
such a well defined workflow.
Rolf
