That's what it sounds like, but they presented it as if this was the
Lightjet "way". This is my first experience with a Lightjet, but I've
profiled a number of Lambdas in the past, all with improved results.
When they specified ColorMatch, it sounded vaguely like today's crop of
consumer and business printers that are made to swallow sRGB and spit
out acceptable color. As a matter of fact, their "File Preparation
Guidelines" say that all files must be converted to ColorMatch by the
customer before being submitted. If sent in A98 or other color space,
they will be printed "as is" without conversion. Where's the "service"
in Service Bureau, I'd like to know.
Here's one for you, Andrew. In a shop that has only two of its
workstations calibrated, they offer these instructions to their clients:
Calibrating your monitors is an important step in getting
good color output from digital printers. You can either
calibrate your monitor by using devices such as the
ColorVision Spyder, Monaco EZColor, Praxisoft
WiziWYG, Gretag MacBeth Eye-One Match or by using
Adobe Gamma. Start out by setting the color temperature
(white point) to 6500K. Set your monitors to 24 or 32 bit
color (True Color) and keep ambient light as low as
possible. After calibrating your monitor, it is important to
evaluate the overall color and density.Go to
http://digitaldog.imagingrevue.com/tips/ and click on
Printer Test File in the left column. This image should
have good skin tones and neutral gray scales.

They are, and they've always done a very good job with my film - I've
used them for almost 30 years - so when this project came along I sent
it over.
>I'd try another lab next time.
For anything other than film, I will.
