You and me.
I just got off the phone with them for the eighth time today and,
gathering information little by little, their investment in color
management starts and stops with a pair of LaCie Blues. The have no
other measuring devices than the two LaCie pucks and a bench
densitometer. It's been hard figuring out exactly what they're doing
because their "color" guy is out this week. He's the one who "tweeks"
customer's files for the Lightjet. The rest of the crew is pretty
opaque on what's going on, and a little defensive about their methods.
If I hadn't been plying them with chocolate for the last twenty years,
they probably wouldn't give me the time of day.
Paul DuPont sent me a GretagMacBeth-TC9.18 which I sent over to them to
print. He'll do a profile from it, and I'll do likewise with my antique
PrintOpen. Who knows, maybe they'll be converted. Might put their
color guy out of business, though.
This is the first time I've run into this in years. Even old guard
engravers who told me that CM was a passing fad are color managed these days.
Thanks for your help.
Tony
