Hello Chris,
Not all images require conversion using black point compensation. The
vast majority do. Since ColorSync doesn't have black point
compensation, I consider conversions that depend on ColorSync without
separate black point compensation implemented,
Just for your information: we have a basICCoolTool called
ShadowMactch which replaces one of the B2A tables (selectable by the
user) with the relative colorimetric table WITH black point
compensation so that you can use the "Adobe" feature of black point
compensation also in ColorSync. Of course to create that "dynamic"
table it is necessary to select first the input and then the output
profile. And it has to be said that this relative colorimetric table
WITH black point compensation saved in one of the B2A tables of the
output profile only works as long as the black point value of the
input profiles used in the workflow is the same as that one used
generating that fixed relative colorimetric table WITH black point
compensation.
Best Regards
Hanspeter Harpf
PS: You can download that basICCoolTool from our web-site
www.basICColor.de and create a 14-day tryout license to test that.
