I printed out 2 ramps straight out of the RIP. Oh boy, a and b values all over the place. Both K only and CMY.
SO, how to tackle this?
Adjust linearization curves to get the a and b values back in line/balance?

Good test. You have confirmed a poor linearization which you need to improve upon next. A linear printing state is needed to provide an optimal, uniform target for the profiling process. Contrary to what some believe, a profile should not be used to correct for an imperfect linearization. As to how you should go about getting a better linearization depends on what RIP you are using. If you are working with a RIP or process that performs a poor linearization you should linearize again in your profiling software prior to profiling.

If you have other questions, let us know what RIP and printer you are using.
