Dear Steve, Martin, Klaus und Karl,
OK. You guys convinced there is nothing "European" in "ISO Coated" or
"Fogra39 Coated".
I agree with Karl's ideas that profile naming ought to reflect many aspects
of its reference dataset, origin, profile creation software, etc.
This is not an easy task. I find we're invariably drawn to some kind of
coding scheme as an alternative to retain the meaning in a profile name
while cutting down on character counts, Karl. But, by all account, a profile
name coded as "F39ICU.icc" for "Fogra39ISOCoatedUCR" is anything but
intuitive. Perhaps Klaus's suggestion of using the ICC registry as one
central profile repository and documentation is one way out of this mess.
After all, most people have internet access these days. This idea was
brought forth many times over the years in this discussion on this list but
has not received overwhelming support. Odd?
So, is "AdobeFogra39Coated.icc" acceptable? Or "ECIFogra39Coated.icc"?
