I'm in the middle of a publishing project and I've received
contradictory information
from different people at the publishers.
the prepress guy and I had a conversation where he basically said, take
the press profile
they sent me, which I used to make the CMYK conversion, send this CMYK
file along with a
proof, which I made by ripping my original RGB file through a press
simulation also using
their profile.
The screen to proof correspondence was very good, and the test prints
that came back were also very close.
Then the AD sent me this "essay" about sending them only RGB files that
had my monitor
profile embedded.
Further, that and proof made outside their "closed loop" would be
meaningless, which, of course was already patently false.
This just seems wrong to me, as I've been in this business a long time.
can I get a witness.
