In my view the only way that “preserve numbers” could produce targeted colours is if the file has already been converted to the printer profile.  If as you say North America Prepress 2 assumes “preserve numbers” I would suggest that the printer is using US webcoated (swop) V2 as an output profile.  Its sounds like they are asking you “is your CMYK file in US webcoated V2 or not?”

Hi everyone,

I know this may be obvious but I have to ask.

I'm a photographer and at this moment I'm sending my photos (PSD, 8
bits, CMYK North America Prepress2) to a Design Center, wich will
place them into Indesign and send to an Offset.

They asked me what Colour Management Policy they have to assume with
my cmyk photos, "Preserve Embedded profile" or "Preserve numbers" ?

"North America Prepress 2" assumes "preserve numbers" as default but
I guess this changes everything.

What do YOU recomend in this case?
